Wedding planning is such an exciting journey, though it can definitely feel overwhelming at times.

Set a Budget

  • Break down the budget: Start by determining what you’re comfortable spending and break it down by categories (venue, attire, food, photographer, etc.).
  • Prioritize: Identify which elements are most important to you—whether it’s the venue, the food, or entertainment—and allocate your budget accordingly.

Choose Your Date & Venue

  • Season and Date: Decide if you want a summer, fall, winter, or spring wedding. The time of year will affect the venue options and the overall vibe of the wedding.
  • Venue: Consider the size of the venue, its location, and whether it aligns with the aesthetic you envision. Some venues provide everything, while others are more DIY and may require you to bring in vendors.

Create Your Guest List

  • Start with a rough list of people you absolutely want there, then fine-tune based on the size of the venue and your budget.

Find Your Vendors

  • Photographer/Videographer: Start looking early as these vendors can book up fast, especially for popular wedding dates.
  • Catering: Food and drink can be a big part of the experience. Whether you go for a plated dinner or a buffet, it’s important to pick a caterer that can provide what you’re looking for.
  • Florist, DJ/Band, Cake Artist: Research and get quotes from a few vendors to ensure you find the best fit.

The Dress & Attire

  • Wedding Dress: Try to give yourself ample time (6–12 months) to find the perfect gown, since alterations may be necessary.
  • Bridal Party: Decide on the look for your bridal party. Will they wear matching outfits, or would you prefer a more relaxed vibe?

Design Your Wedding

  • Theme or Color Scheme: Do you have a theme in mind, or are you focusing on certain colors for the decor?

  • Invitations: Once you’ve got a date and venue, you can start designing and sending out save-the-dates and formal invitations.
